Music Song Videos Are Short Video Films with Songs

Usually music video could be two types. First; the video where only music is played and some real character, animated character, or artists play some characters or screen the stories. It could even be music with some scenarios as travel guides. But the more popular version is the music song videos that usually come in the form of music albums where artists themselves or other others play characters in some short stories.

Marketing Device

Using the effects of visuals in creating lasting impression on the viewers, music song videos are often used as marketing devices on the TV screen and even online. Some of them are also displayed in the theater halls but they are not videos usually but short films. Video parlors and TV channels usually display maximum numbers of such videos. Usually they are the means for promoting some products, services, or business using the immense appeal of the visual media.

Multiple Nomenclatures

Though dating back much further, these videos came into prominence during the 1980s and made rapid strides with special music channels like MTV, VTV and others coming into play. Earlier they were known in various names like “illustrated song”, “promotional clips”, and “filmed inserts” or even simply as “film clips”.

With the growing numbers of home viewers and immense development of technology in the field of electronic media and development of VCD, VCR in the first era and CD, DVD players later, the clips became more popular and came to be known popularly as music song video both in the commercial and domestic circles.
